Just as good as everyone says it is. 7 courses are: salad, savory pastry, chicken, beef/lamb, couscous, fruit, bahklavah and tea. The burgandy house wine is extremely drinkable, and reasonably priced. I would recommend a light breakfast and lunch, as there is no way you could eat it all otherwise. We'll be going back, for sure. Oh, and service was prompt and unobtrusive. Two thumbs up.

Dark Horse Pub

Reviewed on Dec 8th, 2006
The dark horse is a twisted maze of many rooms, with mutiple bars to choose between.

anyhow, I thought the food was "above average" for pub fare, and the portions were big, very satisfying. I got a real pour on boddingtons ... nitrogen fed, which was a nice surprise. I had one of the best pulled pork sandwhiches ive had in philly. (jamaican jerk ...pleasantly spicy). worth second visit next time im in the area.

Cute, somewhat small restaurant. Noisy because they pack so many table into a small space. Has a bar (Someone was smoking, WTF!). Pretty small menu, which led me to try the stewed goat, which I found to be quite unpleasant. My wife had the stewed suckling pig, which was quite tasty. Both were a shade expenive (17). We both had straight-up martinis, which were quite good. Almost excellent, but not quite. Worth a try, but avoid the goat unless you know you like really gamey meats.

Slightly above average pub/bar atmosphere. Decent food. Kinda small, so it gets freakishly loud, and the waitstaff is spread a little thin. But, if you're in the neighborhood and looking for a watering hole, this place will do in a pinch.

"upscale mexican food," whatever that means. You can get more trendy takes on traditional mexican dishes at this place, and its BYO, which is KEY. food is a shade pricey for what you get, but its a solid offering, and the atmosphere is great (even if its a little cramped). Worth checking out.

Nice dive bar, has its own local patronage, so you'll feel comfortably out of place. The sausage sandwhich was quite eatable. My wife made the mistake of ordering a veggie burger here. Not a good idea. Supposedly the sister bar to Monks, but you'd never know.

Gusto Pizzeria

Good pizza, reasonable price. Certainly one of the better non-gourmet pizzarias in philly, and centrally located. The tomato pie was solid, but not exceptional.

Have to agree wit h all the "great food, great beer" comments. Also, they always have new homegrown art on the walls, which is pretty nifty. Cheesesteak = barnone, but the rest of the menu is solid as well.
